This Mango Lassi Smoothie is my way of enjoying the classic Indian mango lassi with a slightly modern, smoothie-style twist. It's thick, creamy, and naturally sweet with ripe mangoes, cooling yogurt, and a touch of cardamom and saffron for that traditional flavor.

Perfect as a light breakfast, afternoon cooler, or sweet snack, this is one of those recipes I return to every mango season. If you enjoy fruity drinks like this for your morning breakfast, you might also like my refreshing Strawberry Smoothie or the filling Mango Protein Smoothie.

Why You'll Love This Smoothie

  • Authentic Flavor: Inspired by traditional mango lassi with cardamom and optional saffron.
  • Naturally Sweet: Ripe mangoes add all the sweetness you need.
  • Cooling & Gut-Friendly: Yogurt adds creaminess and probiotics.
  • Quick to Make: Blend everything in a few minutes.
  • Versatile: Great for breakfast, as a post-meal treat, or as a summer snack.

Serving Ideas

  • Breakfast Smoothie: A bright, energizing way to start your day.
  • Midday Cooler: A quick glass to cool down in summer.
  • Sweet Ending: Enjoy it as a light dessert after a meal.
  • Pair with Spicy Dishes: Lassi goes well with spicy Indian meals.

Tips and Variations

Over the years, I've made mango lassi in so many ways. Here are a few ideas to make it your own:

  • Choose Flavorful Mangoes: Alphonso or Kesar are perfect for this.
  • Customize Sweetness: Add more honey or swap with maple syrup or sugar.
  • Add a Twist: A pinch of ginger or a couple of mint leaves blends in well.
  • For a Richer Texture: Blend in a spoonful of cashew or almond powder.
  • Make It Vegan: Use coconut or almond yogurt with any plant-based milk.
  • Prep Ahead: You can chill it in the fridge for a few hours. Stir before serving.

  • Taste and Adjust: Add a bit more maple syrup or honey if your mango isn't sweet enough.

Notes

  • Use sweet mangoes like Alphonso or Kesar for the best flavor.
  • Add more milk to thin or ice/frozen mango to thicken.
